How It Works

Lucid Forms operates as a serverless backend for your frontend forms. Instead of coding your own backend APIs, setting up databases, or configuring SMTP servers to send emails, you forward form submissions directly to our endpoints. We handle the rest.

The Submission Life Cycle

Every time a user clicks submit on a form connected to Lucid Forms, the request passes through the following stages:

1. Spam & Security Inspection

First, the submission is parsed. Lucid Forms automatically runs invisible honeypot checks and screens the submission using our AI-powered Spam Filter (enabled on all plans). If the form has captcha configured, we verify the token. Submissions failing these checks are either blocked immediately or placed in your spam dashboard without triggering notifications.

2. Database Storage

If the submission is verified as clean, it is safely stored in our database. You can search, view, or export your submissions in CSV or JSON format at any time via the Lucid Forms Dashboard.

3. Action Triggering (Notifications & Integrations)

Once saved, Lucid Forms immediately executes your notification rules and active integrations:

Email Notifications: Alert emails are sent to the designated recipient addresses.
Third-Party Sync: Submissions are automatically forwarded to third-party services like Google Sheets.
Webhooks: A POST request with the JSON payload is dispatched to any configured webhook URLs.

Submission Topups (Addons)

What happens if you run out of submissions on your Pro Plan? You don’t need to upgrade to a higher tier. You can buy Submission Topups:

Pricing: $4.99 per topup.
Quota: Adds +1,000 submissions to your account.
Expiration: Topup submissions never expire as long as your Pro subscription remains active.
